Confidentiality
Therapy sessions are private and confidential. The law protects the privacy of all communications between a client and a mental health professional. However, when working with minors this is not always the case. I believe that parents have a right to know how their child is doing in therapy. Understand that in order for your child to feel safe with me, trust must be present. Therefore, I do not reveal most things that your child shares with me, unless it is harmful to them in some way. However, with the permission of my client, I often share my thoughts and concerns with parents when I feel that it will be helpful. In my experience, most children will provide this consent, and I will make every effort to respect their privacy while keeping parents appropriately involved.
Insurance Reimbursement
Although we are in network with numerous insurance companies, our participation does not always guarantee reimbursement for your particular plan. Please check with the following companies to insure their acceptance of my services: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, TRICARE, Health Net, and Penn Behavioral Health. We are also recognized as an out of network provider for all other insurance plans.
Clients who see us with Out of Network benefits generally receive 40-80% back from their insurance company. It is most helpful for you to call your insurance company and understand your plan in order to make an informed decision. You may have a deductible to reach before they reimburse any fees. Each month we'll provide you with the proper documentation to submit for reimbursement for our sessions. Then your insurance company sends a payment directly to you.
Some clients don’t use insurance since it requires a mental illness diagnosis, which remains on their insurance record. They may choose not to use their insurance because paying for the session yourself allows for private and confidential counseling. Using your in-network benefits limits confidentiality because therapists are often required to report on their client’s treatment and progress. Without using insurance we aren’t limited to a predetermined length of therapy or number sessions, our privacy is secure, and ultimately you choose the best provider to fit your needs.
Cancellation Policy
24 hours’ notice is required if you need to cancel your appointment or there will be a fee charged to your account. For your first missed appointment without adequate notice, there is a $60 fee. For any missed appointments following this you are responsible for the full cost of the session and if I have a waiting list at the time, I will no longer be able hold our scheduled weekly time. Payment is expected by your next appointment in order to continue services. Your insurance company cannot be billed for fees associated with missed appointments.
